in my patcher.log I noticed:
[2008-06-16 23:31:49,0] [Patcher] RDB/RDBHashIndex.bin has wrong hash (6091ccf8ff136df3a03acd487f7f6148 != 33a4dcafe01847d5297405c9c1c6c1f2)
[2008-06-16 23:31:49,0] [HTTPManager] Files:0/1 (0.0/0.0 MB) Idle
[2008-06-16 23:31:49,0] [HTTPManager] http://aoc-us-update.live.ageofconan...405c9c1c6c1f2: failed with error 302
So I deleted the RDB/RDBHashIndex.bin , and re-run AoC and it went and got it again, then it started patching...
Check your patcher.log (should be in root folder of AoC) and open it in wordpad and go all the way to the bottom and see what file caused the patcher to hang and delete it before running the updater.
Hope this helps,

Thanks to Houman. In SHORT
1) Go to your AoC Root folder , go to RDB Folder and delete the following file:
RDBHashIndex.bin
Then run the patcher again. That worked for me and right now it is downloading the patch. try it =)
Once again thanks Houman!
P.S.
To those confused, it will redownload the file (which is 13 or 32 megs, I forget) then it will download the patch which is around 100ish megs. So if its doing that then yes it is working =)
P.S.S
People who dont know what the root folder is, the root folder is where Age of Conan installed. For example, by default you can find the folder at "C:\Program Files\Age Of Conan\RDB"
Not sure how easier I can explain that =)
