Default Comp Shutdown issues

I'm in the same situation as above.

AMD Athlon FX-57
7800GTX x2 running in SLI
4 gigs memory (4x1gig sticks)
Windows XP
850W power supply
Nvidia 175.16 drivers

Have run simple config and verfied - found nothing wrong there.
Hard drive defragged regularly.
Up to date graphics drivers.
Deleted all the DX10 files (except in the game folder).
Reinstalled diretx9.
Deleted all the shader.cache files in the AoC folder.

My issue is not consistent. Yesterday I played for literally 20 hours and it was fine the entire time. Yet today I get instant comp shutdown.

My comp never shuts down on me in the game. It always happens on the Login screen. Either when I hit "Login" and it's trying to connect and load data, or even sometimes if I click the "Settings" and am trying to look at something there. YET - it doesn't ALWAYS happen. Like this morning I did log in once and play for 30 minutes, but then had to log out. The next time I tried it shut down.

During the patcher/login process my G15 keyboard shows my CPU pegged at 100%. I know people have said AMD chips are having more issues, but I don't know how to fix that offhand.

Also - SLI - would that be a problem? I have read that the game doesn't support it (yet??), so I don't know if turning that off would help. I'm just afraid that would make my graphics tank.

Heat issue - I keep hearing people say it's heat based. I have like 6 fans in the case plus liquid cooling. Just dusted out the system and topped off the liquid coolant 2 days ago. AND - I don't think it's heat because if it was, it would be shutting me down at any point, not just during the Login screen. That and the fact that when I first turned my computer on this morning, this issue happened, and obviously no heat had built up by that point.

Finally, I did find that running with shaders 3.0 and anti-aliasing x2 improved my graphics and gave me a smoother experience than even having everything cranked low and shut down.

Any help appreciated. I AM STUMPED! It's very frustrating to have 20 hours of quality gameplay, but the next day have your comp keep shutting off every time you try to log in.

Thanks!

Does it shutdown completely or just shutdown and reboot?

Hard shutdowns are often hardware related issues. Being that this is a hardware intense game, perhaps you can try removing sticks of ram, or maybe one of the video cards.

When I've ever had hard shutdowns or reboots, I always start the process of elimination with my hardare. 90% of the time it's my RAM I had the exact same problem with DAOC on my alt computer. I went weeks working fine, then suddently started getting reboots. It turned out to be a RAM stick gone bad. I'd say the other 10% of the time is split between driver issues and hard drive issues.

The thing is, if it was a problem with the software, that would affect a much larger base of people since that's a constant variable in the equation. What's not constant is the systems, hardware, etc.

Try stripping your system down one part at a time and see if the problem goes away.

This is one of two things:

Software or your CPU is throttling. I didn't read through the whole thing but either your CPU isn't getting enough voltage or it is clocked to high (If it is throttling).

If its software then you're going to have to alt tab out and look at whats running. To me though it sounds alot like throttling. Try turning off the power save features in your bios.

As to what the person above me mentioned, it doesn't have to be the Conan software. But like I said I'm 90% sure that you are throttling.
