World First Siege? 6am EST PFB vs LOTD
Some Sinister decided to tag along with PFB to view the sieging system this morning at 6am EST (Deathwhisper).
Here's a taste:
"PFB did the server's first siege (world first?) this morning at 6am EST on LOTD, a few Sinister who were online decided to take the opportunity to see how "polished" siege warfare was. The naysayers were pretty much deadon. It took little time to break down the main gate (max of 4-5 mins), buildings in general go down really fast with the full raid on them. Siege weapons don't work yet, and the mercenary system isn't in (we had to drop our guild for the siege in order to not kill each other even in the same raid). Keeps still have vunerable areas where you can just run past the walls (on the LOTD keep it was on the right side of the outer wall). After breaching the outer wall we ran into the major problem (I guess?) of sieging. LAG. I run a quad core 2.4ghz 2 gig ram and a 8800GT, and I had a solid 2-3fps once we engaged (btw i spent 500 dollars upgrading my pc for this game). Trying to actually fire combos and kill anyone was virtually impossible unless they were rooted."

I was in that battle. Just had to Turn down graphics a bit make the resolution a bit smaller and I had no problems.

I turned everything down, particle effects off etc. It helped to start with (went from 10 to 20 when i was just with my raid), but when we fully engaged with 90+ people on the screen it was a mess. I'm positive 90% of hte people had the same problem because I was just screwing around at one point and ran past the entire LOTD keep defense without them landing more than 1 hit.

I love the "I imagine melee classes were banging their heads against the monitor in frustration.", due to the massive lag that encompasses a mass pvp event like a siege. Its not making me want to continue playing my barb, maybe I should just go back to my ToS '1 keystroke per ability' character, seems like it will be a lot more efficient in mass warfare, as opposed to trying to fire off 5 keystroke combos.

I've said it before sieges when we were doing 48vs48 in Keshetta against you guys, large fights are lag hell and this game can't handle them. The last couple of patches have made graphics performance worse IMHO. I have a Core2 Duo high end machine, lots of ram, GF8800, and my system ranks well above the recommended specs.
Legendary battle keeps? 300 players? LOL, yeah right.
Either way thanks for showing up, we enjoyed the battle, and hope to see you guys in action if you lay siege to other guild's keeps over the next week or so.

Siege lag = Fail.
Not just Fail. Not just EPIC FAIL(tm). We're talking "new branches of mathematics and number theory have to be invented to sufficiently quantify how big of a disappointment this is."
In all seriousness, if we have guilds out there gathering resources and grinding up to 80 and going through all this just to get a crack at what amounts to 96 people playing TURN-BASED TACTICAL COMBAT then even I have to admit that AoC won't be around in six months.
I signed up to play siege warfare, not Fire Emblem.

Well this doesn't surprise me when they release the game to make money before Warhammer takes their player base. Competition pushed them to release an unfinished product and the majority of changes they've put in have or will make the game worse(Fugitive System/Powerpoints/only 1 BK per guild).
Pretty much makes casters a must in siege warfare. One button click AoE's, corpse detonations, and a couple tanks holding the line with active blocking is about all you'll need.

It was probably the biggest failure I have seen in an MMORPG yet.
It was almost unplayable for the majority of my guild, I find it odd that Funcom somehow overlooked this massive problem. My guess? They will reduce the size of these sieges to 10 people. That's really the only solution at this point because it was just that bad. I have a $4000 top of the line system capable of playing games like crysis on the highest settings, yet this game, runs like ass.
If there is no siege warefare, if minigames are kept as they are, then there is virtually no reason to PVP in this game.
Queue Fanbois who aren't 80.
WOW PVP is far better than this ****. There, I said it.
