Default Do ToS get better?

Ive been experimenting with the different classes and am leaning toward ToS. I'd like a class that can solo well, but still be decent at PvP and be needed in groups. ToS fits that to a tee.

Problem is that it seems like all there is to them, at least solo pve on Tortage, is spamming the same lightning spell over and over. Granted, I havent made it past level 10...

Are they more fun, or more complex, at higher level?

By lvl 15 ull start ur path to god mode, by lvl 40 u are god and can take on 3 people at once in PvP and herd up 10 mobs at once and kill them in less then 10 seconds. So lvl it up while its still hot :P

It is a given that all classes get better with time. Judging one before level 80 seems rather pointless to me.

That said, I think the general consensus is that level 30 is when ToS goes from "pew pew" boring to AE monster.

Wow, all of those characters in your signature and not one is a Tempest. Do I smell flame bait?

Thanks for the feedback.

All the classes in each archetype seem similar as far as in playstyles at low level. Its hard to get the different flavors while still on Tortage.

I guess after a week of bouncing back and forth, I'll stick with my ToS.

You got one to 30, therefore you have first hand experience that they are "god mode" at 40? Hrm...

Judging any class while still on Tortage is rather futile because you haven't unlocked that class' potential through higher ranks of spells or any of the deep feats.

With that disclaimer out of the way, ToS is a very simple class to play either solo or in a group but is a very strong class. Without feats, you're pretty much resigned to using only lightning strike and charged blast. I'm at 54 currently, so I can't comment about whether or not we get any additional damage skills outside of feats.

We also have storm field which rocks for tanking, and yes, we can tank pretty damn well depending on the mobs. Just keep your hots up and you'll do just fine.

The feats fall into three basic categories, lightning as ranged, thunder as melee and general for the healing line. Each tree has mana return feats which I would highly recommend you take. I prefer Ether Flow in the general tree since it's a passive 109 return rate. Ether absorption in the lightning tree is also passive and would do well to augment ether flow if you can fit it into your template. Storm crown is great if you group a lot, but it's non-passive and requires a recast every 60 seconds or so.

Ranged ToS are pretty straight forward - stand back and nuke while tossing up some hots every now and then. If you go this route, I'd strongly recommend augmenting this build with the increased healing range feats in the general tree. My rotation, especially on longer fights, is lightning strike, charged blast, lightning strike, hot - rinse and repeat. Adding that hot in the line up mitigates any damage you're taking and can be cast while the second LS is cooling down.

Melee ToS requires a bit more planning but less work - drop your totem, cast storm crown and storm strike and let the mobs beat on you while you cast your hots and swing your weapon.

That's pretty much all there is to playing a ToS.

...the **** is storm strike?!

Ok, aside from having that spell name entirely wrong...since I believe you're thinking of Storm Field...which has *nothing* to do with tanking, if you understand the definition of the word. You have given many bad tips that makes it almost seem like you're patching this post together with little tid-bits you've found online and no real experience with the class.

You know I actually searched the forums for a spell called storm strike that made us capable of tanking... lmao
