Default Problems with Resource Database File

I've been having a lot of trouble getting AoC to run smoothly, so after browsing the forums for a few hours, I came across a rather lengthy and in-depth post on how to optimize my system after installation. (Apparently AoC isn't a very clean installer.)

One tip that I found was that because AoC is such a large game and isn't a very condensed package on the computer, it tends to fragment really badly. I defragged my drive, and lo and behold, AoC had fragmented about a third of my drive on its own. Curiously, only one file came up as being unable to defrag, and that was the 04.rdbdata file, which I found on my drive.

I noticed that my 04 file is about half the size of all the other Database files, only taking up about 600 MB compared to an average of 1 GB. I thought maybe there had been a problem during installation, (I installed the majority of the game using the patcher program) so I sent the 04 file to the recycle bin and ran the patcher. The patcher failed to notice the missing 04 file, and I even ran the resource database file checker in the settings menu for the patcher, and THAT failed to notice the missing 04 file.

I restored the 04 file to its original location, but I would like to know if my problems with that file are common, or unique to me. Also, please let me know what the correct file size of the 04 file is.

Default Filepath: C:\Program Files\Funcom\Age of Conan\RDB\04.rdbdata

Bump

Found out that my file is corrupted. All ##.rdbdata files should be the same size. Need to find a way to download a new copy without reinstalling because it took me a good hour and a half to install it the first time.

Default Possible Fix

Im not sure how much of a help this will be to you but I had similar issues during installation. Only 4 of the 22 RDBDATA files installed correctly. My fix was allowing the patcher to correctly install the remianing 18 files (though this does imply you need to allow for a 15 Gb Patching process). after this was done i had 22 correct size files, deleted my incorrect ones and was all set and was playing for the first time after this. No matter how many installs I did it never did it properly and this way (using teh patcher) was the only way that worked correctly and the game is runing perfectly.

Ok, but how do I make the patcher notice the corrupted file? I've even tried sending my entire set of ##.rdbdata files onto a thumb drive so that they wouldn't be on my computer at all, and the patcher still didn't notice. I even ran the SimpleConfig.exe while the RDB folder was empty and it came back with 0 problems detected.

Hmm, for me the patcherjust went to work on the 15 Gb patch right after the poor installation.. Have you tried deleting the incomplete RDBDATA files before begining the patcher? then allowing the patcher to run.
