AoC's biggest liability? Tyranny.

Seriously. For all the new players out there who might just be trying out the trial period and rolled on Tyranny, please don't get discouraged. The Tyrrany server does not represent the entirety of AoC. Or even the PvP servers.

Tyranny has the worst community and represent the absolute worst there is in this game. And it's not just the constant ganking or the rez pad camping. but it's how the people there act. It's just terrible.

AoC does many little things wrong (lack of LFG support, lame mob mechanics, discovering rez pads instead of just rezzing at the nearest one, historically bad chat channels, etc.)and combined with the gankfest and horrid behavior on Tyranny, I suspect that it is singlehandedly driving people away from AoC, at a time when this game desperately needs more people.

Well, I certainly can't speak for anyone else, but I rerolled on Set, a PvE server, and seriously, it's like night and day. People are a lot nicer, more social and (gasp)actually enjoy grouping! I know, can you believe it? Grouping and working with other players to complete quests in an MMO!

This game is still terribad at helping players find others to actually group with but just running around Conall's Valley tonight, I saw tons of people out and about, and was invited a couple times to groups. The global chat channel is still a little lame, but it is NO WHERE NEAR the unreadable, eye-bleeding spectacle of the Tyranny global chat channel. Where it seriously seems to be a chat room for white supremacists and misogynists. If anyone is ever wondering where the last bastion of the Confederacy is, it is in Age of Conan on the Tyranny server.

So please, if you're new to the game and playing on Tyranny and think that it represents what AoC is all about, it doesn't. Not even close. And before you think about quitting, please consider other servers first. Even other PvP servers aren't nearly as bad as Tyranny.

I hated this game when I played on Tyranny. But I love this game playing on Set.

And this is different from any PvP server on any game how?

I have to agree with the thread. Tyranny is one of the worst representations of what AoC could be. All the chest pounding about how it's a PvP server and it's the Hyboria way ... fine ... till you get people who just plain Grief the noobs and then dont offer to group or help 90% of the time. I know it happens in all the MMOs ... but keeping in line with the thread title ... Tyranny is the place where many of the Socially Retarded seem to thrive.

I keep one 80 on Tyranny and the rest are on Wicanna ... which YOU CAN PvP on if you choose. And the folks on there are much more mature.
