Default How many frames per second can we see? (its not 30 :p)

http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frame...humans_see.htm

Summary:

You can notice a huge difference in fps from 30 to 60, 60 to 90, 90 to 160, etc, etc. Why?

You see motion as a blur, however computers cannot blur motion, well not yet at least. Computers show flashes of very crisp images, which makes us think that the object is stuttering. So more frames per second, less stutter.

Movies get away with 18 fps because they have blur. Any higher and we can't really notice a difference.

I'm posting this because it is really getting old hearing people say you can't notice anything above 30fps.. And this article is a very good read.

30FPS is the baseline average among humans. There are some who won't get just noticeable difference above there. Some who will get a JND at a lower FPS. And some who will get a JND at a higher FPS.

That being said, the type of stimulus used to when testing for a JND will have an effect on when the JND occurs. The lighting, the brightness of the image, the view device, the complexity of the image, all these things and more can make that average go up, or down, for any given subject set. This is all before we get into making yourself see differences that may not be there and factoring in any training that can skew individual results.

Psychology: More than just "...and how does that make you feel"

Cheers!
