Has AoC turned the corner?
Despite its known issues, a couple of missing features and the call to have all of the development team at Funcom hanged, it would seem that AoC is now turning the corner and will begin its run towards the great MMO we had all hoped it to be.
I think there were many who wanted to see AoC fail but because of people like myself who have the patience and believe in AoC and the team at Funcom - it would seem that all of that patience is now being rewarded.
As an avid forum participator I have noticed a diminishing number of negative threads about the game. Granted, many of those who have canceled their in-game accounts are now seeing their forum accounts automatically expire. I've also noticed that if there are any negative threads they mostly happen on the weekends and are mostly ignored by myself and the thousands of fans who are too busy playing in game to even notice them.
Another piece of evidence is the growth in server populations as noted by this thread:

AoC lost alot of players to Warhammer but those like me who remained steadfast are also seeing a growth in server populations yet again. Tyranny and Cimmeria are overflowing with players. I have an alt on each one including my primary server Bane, which is now seeing an upswing in population.
Yes, I am a fanboy, however, I am not blind to the issues that plague AoC and the issues that will probably plague it in the future - as is the case with all MMO's but I'm glad to see that things are finally moving in the right direction and with the upcoming PVP patch and future updates, AoC will most definitely leave its mark in the annals of MMO history.

You had a very valid point up until the part where you insulted another MMO. One of the biggest issues on these forums, besides the bugs or incompetent responses from FC, are the flame wars that happen because of a difference in opinion on various games. So, please, stop the name calling and your post is much more valid.

"Wowhammer" is an insult?!? Only if you think one or both of those games suxx.
I think AoC/funcom's making steady progress, perhaps slower than you'd like, but they're earnest.
If only it slated for release next year, it'd be awesome.

AoC is dead. You're actually comparing a game like WAR to a game, which in 3 months, has had nearly all of its population consolidated to 2 servers?
You're kidding right?
You remain steadfast here in AoC. The majority of us are going to a game that's more stable, polished, complete and FUN in BETA than AoC is 3-4 months after release.

Population growth doesn't sound exactly like death to me but you're more than welcome to speculate.

Just ignore him. There's always people that claim every MMO since the beginning of time are "dead" When the next thing they like comes out.

In all honesty you don't see the flames and negative posts because people have gotten it out of their system and moved on. The few flames that do remain are the few that had high hopes and were patient only to see hope diminish.
So what you are left with are the few forum posters that are happy with the game and remain.
Everyone else is gone and don't care anymore. Take myself for instance. I very rarely post anymore. I'm just waiting till my post rights are gone when ever this paid sub ends, as you eluded too.
Is AoC turning a corner? It can be debated; turned as in growth, I doubt it. Turn as in all the haters are gone..most likely.
Of course this is my opinion, I have no links or evidence blah blah.

The point is, "Is it population growth, or consolidation?'
If the overall popualtion of the game is dropping, it is irrelevant to the health of the game, if one or two servers see a gain in players.
That being said, I hope AoC survives. This game, and the other new one(s) will have a hard time growing a population. There is more competition in the market than ever before, and a new expansion by the giant all coming out in a short period of time.

It seems more like all the survivors of this disaster are coming together in the two refugee camps of Tyranny and Cimmeria. A corner has been turned, but I do not think they are repopulating the world just yet.
I'd like to add that I hope it does work out. The game had a ton of potential which was unrealized. It still has a chance I jsut don't see myself being a part of it's future anymore.
