Thread: Abyssal Convoker

    Default Abyssal Convoker

This guy in AoK is either bugged or there is something people are doing wrong when they get oneshotted by Blaze Maw even though they stand behind the boss, getting the Scorch Wrack for no reason. Then, during the Vile Invocation, when adds appear, you can get oneshotted before you can even react. Is there some key to this so people can avoid it?

Proper tactics are posted on cynara's blog. From personal experience: do not expect blazing maw to go forward.. always be ready to move sideways if getting the wrack dot from it - it only takes 1-2 steps to get out of aoe (usually its on the aggro holder). There is a retributive damage shield on boss when vile invocation starts, so those players pretty much 1-shot themsleves, if they die right when it starts. Also if you are not in the "sanctuary" circle by the end of vile invocation (or the last one in it), you can get "pulled"out and blasted by all the boss's adds at once, which can also 1 -shot.

His cone aoe is bugged. It doesn't update with the models movement, so try to move right or left as soon as it starts casting. On the 75/50/25% enchounter he does retributive damage. Give him a dot in this phas and he'll give you a 10x stronger.

blazing maw is frontal and backward cone. the safe place is on the sides. and, yes, the animation is bugged, so it's not always clear where to stay. if you want to play safe, just move out...

yes, it spits and farts at the same time, but, you know, it's a daemon, so you can't expect it to be gentle...

He always does Blazing maw in the direction where the agro-holder is standing. So basic rule is stay on opposite side of the tanks no matter which direction the boss is facing.

As shax said it is always where agro holder stands. Now then,it sometimes comes right after eviserate where agro holder was stunned so if 2nd tank is not high on agro(or if there isn't one) some monkey behind boss is the agro holder at that point .Only bug is that animation does not follow where the real agro holder is :P

Haha that boss is awesome. It's one of the most fun instance to do (despite the loads of trash you have to do first...). Did it the other day with a guy that wasn't aware of how to avoid blazing maw or what the tactics are on the Devourer without any tos or mage. He got bullied really bad by the bosses ^^

    So much misinformation.

It's not bugged nor is it front and back. It simply always goes to the aggroholder.
Problem is that it doesn't always turn his body before the cast so if the aggroholder turns right before maw or if the maw comes after eviscerate and someone pulled it off the person that was stunned during eviscerate, the effect makes it look like it is coming out of the bosses front while in fact it is casting on the aggroholder and doing damage in that direction.

It is very predictable. If you make sure both the tanks stand on the same side and are above the rest of the group on aggro. Even when the boss is doing eviscerate and maw right after it will cast on the 2nd tank (that took the aggro while the first tank was stunned) and exactly in the direction you expect it and the effect shows.

Ps. Fix the visual on maw so it always casts in the front of the boss and make it so that people can't run back anymore during this fight and actually have to pay attention.
