Hello ya'll, new player here n several year veteran of WoW or more aptly put World of Noobcraft as it's becoming to me.

Been rummaging through the forums n seems this Server might be a good choice to plant a new home in.

Question on class, been looking at the DT...very intrigued w/ the dark aspect of it, tired of the lala land field of flowers that WoW has and want something more brooding/dark. I was a tank in WoW and always a tank at heart, so I would lean towards a tank DT. Is this a bad call?

DTs, played correctly, are great tanks. With certain fights, they *can* be better than a guardian - in others, they are better used for off tanking or group buffs. I wouldn't get too excited about the dark aspect - unless you're really big on lore, they aren't any 'darker' than the other classes, as far as game play goes. But, great class all around, and we can always use more who are willing to take the time to learn the class and play it properly.

Regarding the DT, what kind of tank were you in WoW? the warrior is more or less the guard, and the pally's aspects seem divided between the DT and the conk.

Played the Warr tank for 3+ yrs in WoW, one of the reasons going for DT is cause it's a different style of tanking than I'm used too...sure everything in AoC on the tank side is going to be different lol.

But that's looooong into the future of my new hopeful n promising home in AoC.

For a while my MMO playing enjoyment has been like our U.S. stock market late last year, now trying to rekindle that burning inner flame again n hoping AoC will deliver that.

Not really They actually make pretty good offtanks. They have some really nice self heals ant that sort of thing. Actually pretty cool class.

Other reason I'm rolling w/ a DT, is the OT aspect. As long as the DT is viable for tanking big stuff but is better utilized as the OT AoE tanker, I'm fine n dandy w/ it. Had my fill of the MT spotlight w/ Noobcraft. I'm a happy camper when I am just tanking something

Yeah I won't see much of the dark aspect relevance I suppose, but just love the class description Definitely refreshing to see a darker/mature game play atmosphere of AoC compared to the play nice kiddo atmosphere of WoW. Guess want something more realistic than the cartoon fantasy I'm been tormenting myself too.

Well if anyone is taking note of this fresh new player, I'll be playing a DT named Kalthen, which I'm gonna create tonight once I get some chores n work done tonight.

In duels Tank spec DT's will kill guardians currently no matter what they do unless the DT sucks in pvp.

As for PvE though Guardians will always outtank a DT. I do however like having DT's with us. . They pump out a good amount of DPS, have some good Debuffs according to your specs, and I use them as offhealers with Martydoom when I only have one healer in that group. So DT's have good uses, I would just personally prefer a guardian.

I play both guard and DT, sadly I'd much rather play a DT than a guard in it's current state. With a guard, I feel nearly helpless and fully dependent on others to keep me going. Whereas with a DT, they have so many little tools and tricks to keep me going.

More less Guard is very straight forward, where as DT requires a bit of play to get it down.
