Rise of the Godslayer Expansion: Community FAQ

Now with the official launch date set, the community has become vigorous with all types of interesting questions about the expansion. The community team wanted to take some of those questions that we have not covered or have be frequently asked and fuse them together into a nice circular ball. Then take that newly created ball and throw it at the developer’s heads (cubical-to-cubical) to be answered!

Here is what just landed on my desk:

Q: What classes can we play with the new Khitan race that’s coming in with the expansion?

Players starting a Khitan character can choose from: Guardian, Dark Templar, Bear Shaman, Assassin, Ranger, Demonologist, Herald of Xotli and Necromancer

Q: How big (in GB) will the expansion actually be when it releases on May 11th, 2010?

The update on launch day for users updating from a live client will be around 3GB, users updating from a retail disk can expect a much smaller download similar to a regular update, probably a little over 500MB. Our hosting partners are set up to support the additional traffic to ensure that users will get as good a download speed as possible.

Q: What time will the servers come up on May 11th?

The downtime to access the expansion will most likely be similar to a regular major update release. Please keep an eye out for the details of the downtime itself on the days leading up to the expansion launch.

Q: Can you join more than one faction in the expansion?

There are 10 factions and you can be a member of any 5 of them at a time. Each faction has an opposed faction and it is a 1:1 relationship. There are also 2 hidden faction which players can join, these two factions do not have opposed relationships.

Q: How will players be able to gain Prowess (PvP AA XP) in the expansion?

Anything that gives you PvP XP will also give Prowess. For example: Killing someone in PvP, participating in mini-games, completing objectives in mini-games, Shrines of Bori. Besides the old sources, there are also some new sources. The vendors in the armories have received some new consumables. These items are priced in PvP tokens. When consumed these items will increase your Prowess and these items can be found on the Contraption Merchant found in the Armories.

Q: Can I access the new Khitai region from the original game?

Players will be able to access Khitai by visiting a new caravan master in Khemi. From here players will be able to either pay their way to Khitai or volunteer to work there way to Khitai by protecting the caravan from several random encounters that might happen along the way.

Q: Will I need to have the expansion to access alternate advancement?

Yes, the new alternate advancement system is only available to players with the expansion. Players who purchase the expansion will be able to earn AA XP in the old world as well though.
