You should read the conq revamp thread on TL, i think funcom is not the real source of the fiasco.

It's not always about weapons and armor. As I said, the only thing he HASN'T been in the books is a magic user.

Conan was a barbarian. He learned a thing or two and became a conq

A dirty, finger-wagglin' magician, as you said previously. His enemies were generally filthy wizards and sorcerors.

I agree with you that he would have been a rogue too.
And a thief, a reaver, a slayer, and then a pirate, a buccaneer, corsair, a soldier, scout, mercenary, kidnapper, demon-slayer, a bane of wizards, a poacher (killed a gorilla) and a seducer and a bipolar warrior (gigantic melancholies and mirth) and maybe even a hero.

FC have their work cut-out for them to make all these classes that he was. (I am kinda glad they ditched the many different classes they had initially and rather gave each class more variation.)

    Default Conan the Barbarian

Conan is modeled on the author's, Robert E. Howard's, own family lineage, which according to most sources is supposedly that of Celtic tribes. These include Scotti and Hibernian peoples, aka modern Scottish and Irish. And as such they are known as barbarians at least to the Roman world, upon which Aquilonia is roughly modeled. If you wish to look at the movies, then the character of Bombataa would certainly qualify as a conquerer. Like a rogue class as well, Conan is often seen sneaking around into enemy strongholds such as going in the back way into the enemy stronghold of Shadizar. That is not the typical path of a soldier class.

However, it can be argued that the barbarian class in AOC is not the best representation of what Conan is nor represents and perhaps a modified barbarian class or a new class might actually suit or fit him better but the barbarian as it stands now in the class roster is the best representation of what he is and does. True, he does sometimes wear armor, but most of the time he is not seen in armor. It is also implied he makes his own sword like some special sword or skill that only a barbarian would have. The barbarian class is a bit oversimplified as well. Historically speaking there are many types of fighters and styles within the heading of barbarian. So barbarian would actually work much better itself as a class category rather than simply a class.

The class title conquerer is also some what misleading. It is classified as a soldier class, however soldiers are highly trained, effective and efficient fighters that are trained to fight in groups. They are more highly trained than barbarians and do not go into singular style combat to prove themselves like barbarians do but work against an enemy in unison. Even in single combat, soldiers are traditionally very effective and highly disciplined. They take steady measured movements in combat, where the barbarian is more unpredictable, wild, and powerful. Soldiers are however not conquerers. Generals or the nobles that traditionally lead them are conquerers often times, and though they are often trained like and with soldiers, they themselves are not actually soldiers. Thus this class title is misleading as it is not actually a soldier class.

According to lore information, Conan is also fairly intelligent and multilingual. It is often implied his second ability is that of a thief, though he has skills in strategy, tactics, and leading troops in to combat as well, but so do barbarians in general especially the warlord type.
