I've feated Iron Skin instead of Stone Skin in my physical tanking build.

    thank you very much...
    a few questions, if possible:
    1) Why Disarming Agression instead of Redoubt for example, or investing more points in Precise Attacks?
    2) Why not Improved Defencive Stance in Soldier tree?
    3) Subterfuge not worth investments at all?
    4) You using CoH, Hatefull Strikes and Irritate as soon as its out of cooldown or some other special way?

You can take the 5 points from fortitude and put them in improved defensive stance. Fortitude will give you, if you're well geared, around 150 combat rating, so basically 4.5 dps.

Forget about armor penetration, the benefit from it is really low for 5 points, not worth it at all.

Disarming aggression is feated for the sake of the +12% combo damage, very sweet ability on low cooldown.

As a tank, you just lack the points to go deep enough to get subterfuge.

Irritate does not build long term aggro, the threat generated from it just disappears after 2 seconds. So you use it to pull mobs and to switch aggro basically.

ad 1) Because I think being able to do burst hate is what seperates us from DTs. We are better at generating a high hate level right from the beginning of the fight. Disarming Aggression helps doing just that.
ad 2) and ad 3) Because I want every little aggro feat I can get. Balancing out mitigation and aggro is something you'll have to do on your own. Different raid leaders expect different things from their tanks. Some raid leaders expect more mitigation and less hate from their tanks while telling their damage dealers to hold back more. Others expect less mitigation and more hate while telling their healers to heal better. I don't know how it is in your raid, so I can't recommend anything there.

im full t3 atm with few purple sets from LL and wolfs...
when im asked about investing feats into Improved Defencive Stance - i thought about grab this points from Stone Skin - isnt it grants almost the same amount of magical mitigation with my gear? or its not nowdays?

yes, but isnt it helps in terms of agro, if mob hits you atleast once after Irritate, while you have Stall the Advance or Cunning Deflection on you?

Frankly, i'm not sure it's worth to put only a couple of points in improved defensive stance, since the biggest gain from it comes with the last point.

But in any case, if you have the choice between stone or iron skin and improved defensive stance, it's better to go for stone or iron skin i believe.

There's that old notion, and i think it's still viable, according to which the benefit from improved defensive stance decreases in effectiveness the better the gear you wear.

So with your T3 gear you could just get rid of it and feat like Areana more offensive tools here and there. But at the end it's just a matter of taste and situation.

About irritate couple with CD/STA, it sure helps, after all irritate is mainly there to help on breaking that 10% threat generated responsible for the aggro switch.

The difference between Iron-/Stone-skin amd Improved Defensive Stance is found in the specialisation and amount of mitigation.
5 points in IDS nets you 2.5% of mitigation against magic damage as well as against physical damage.
Whereas Iron Skin gives you 988 Armor, which in turn translates to 4.94% mitigation but only against physical attacks (Stone Skin: 461 protection/6.1% magic mitigation). So against physical damage one gets double the amount of mitigation for 5 points, but no mitigation against magic damage.

With 5 points it's 50% of your constitution turned into combat rating so I believe much more than +4.5dps. With 1000 constitution it should give 500 combat rating so something like +13 dps. You will have even more constitution than that with decent tanking gear (it's roughly what I get in pvp though).

My bad, i had in mind for 1 point. Still, i find it quite expensive to spend 5 points there as a tank.
