I've already got an official bug list thread going but there are some truely class-breaking issues mentioned in that thread that need to be brought to the attention of the Devs. This is a list of what appears to be the most discussed issues with the class. Due to a lack of reservations in the bug thread I needed to create a new thread for these so that I can grow the original post with more bugs/issues. Please continue to keep all bug posts in the original thread. Also, feel free to vote and/or add your top 10 issue for this thread and based on votes/feedback I will adjust the list to be current.


  • Magic Immunity - On some fights (usually boss fights) the boss will become immune to any damage spell cast by any class. The caster will get a "Resist" message and no damage will be done. It's not a true resist though, it's as if the spell isn't being cast but the mana is still being depleted. When this happens, any casters attacking the mob get the same resist message during this time frame. It can be take up to 5 seconds for the mob to normalize so that magic damage will work again. This is an endless cycle that repeats itself constantly during boss fights so during a 5min fight you may have upwards over 30 resists. [/b]UPDATE - This may be caused by a debuff called Lotus Overload which occurs when a priest gets a crit. This is a HUGE issue.[/b]

  • Magic Rating - More so a combination of issues, but our Magic Rating is currently the lowest among all mana using classes. Items that raise MR, stats that raise MR and Destiny quest rewards that raise MR are currently not working. Here is a post that describes the result of MR not working correctly:

    "I, currently at lvl 63, have 222 Magic Rating and 249 Magical Resist. The theory was that every difference in points affects your damage by either +1% or -1%. So in theory I am doing 27% less damage to players with 249 Magical Resist. In other words that means that I am only doing 73% of "normal damage" (assuming 100% as the "normal damage").

    It can be easily calculated with a formula: (MRa - MRe) + 100 =xx% damage. MRa being the Magical Rating and MRe being the Magical Resist. I assume everyone knows by now what supposedly happens to your damage if the sum is ≤100 or ≥100."

It was recently reported by a Dev that our Magic Rating was intentionally lowered so that when we cast our buffs it is then raised back up to the same level as other classes. This essentially means that it is no longer a buff. It's like doubling the price of something and then advertising it as buy 1 get 1 free. Lowering our damage capability and then giving us a spell to raise it back up to normal is not a buff.
  • Stats - INT in its current form is not working correctly. Damage increase from INT is not scaling properly or is only giving a minuscule amount of benefit. It's providing less than 3 mana per point of INT at level 80 and is advertised as increasing our fire, electric and cold resists but no change is reported on the character screen.

  • Lack of Information – We are Mages and Sorcerers! We need to know how our stats affect our damage. We need to know how our feats affect our spells. We need to know how resist rates are determined. We need to know how spell damage is calculated and how damage modifiers are applied. By nature we are curious creatures, we are going to draw conclusions and form hypothesis and a little information would go a long way in ensuring that we have a clue. While we are here, how about mentioning the lack of Dev response? Let us know that you are aware of an issue or looking into an issue. Let us know that our voice is being heard and that help is on the way and that there is hope. You see that’s the thing about hope… as long as there is a little left, people will continue to fight.

  • Feats – I’m not going to list all of the broken/bugged feats, it’s suffice to say there are a lot. The trees aren’t balanced and in their current form they don’t allow for much, if any, variation. At the moment there are 12 confirmed broken feats and more are breaking each day. Taking this a step further, a lot of the feats that are working are either not working as the tool-tip description says they should or they have absolutely no value to our class (insert pet feat here). Closing out this issue is the lack of accurate/complete feat information. Feats that claim to modify a spell or skill often do not say by how much, and the ones that do give a detailed description are often times incorrect.

  • Spell Damage – This isn’t about Demonologists doing less damage than another class, but more about the huge variance in our spell damage and the absurdity of killing ourselves for minimal returns in damage. At the moment the self damage taken from the Pact line of spells is inflicting more damage than the tool-tip says because as we buff ourselves with the very spells required for additional damage (such as Tome of Elrik or Unholy Hate) it also increases the amount of damage we take.

  • Pets –We have all seen the posts regarding “Demon’s of terrible might”. Where are they? If the demonologist is no longer intended to be a pet class and our pets are designed more to be a familiar, then let us know. Pet damage is negligible, pet utility is minimal, pet functionality is pitiful and this all leads to pet feats being laughable. Since this is a top 10 list, let me also add that a pet not being able to hide when we hide is a big issue. Nothing like having a target on your back that screams “Here I am, target me first”.

  • Utility & Survivability – As a wise man once said “Know your role and shut your hole”. What exactly is our role? The class description claims we are the mightiest of sorcerers, but the real world experience would say otherwise. Even if we are not meant to be the DPS kings, where is our utility or survivability to balance out not being the DPS kings? We have the lowest HP of any class, the lowest defense of any class, the lowest magic rating of any caster class, the lowest group utility of any caster class and the lowest survivability. We need to be able to bring more to the table. Group INT/WIS buffs, group magic resist buffs, or group portals would be a good start.

  • Itemization – Go to Aztels Approach and Onyx Chamber. There are 26 total quests between the 2 instances, including 3 for King Conan himself. Now look at the rewards for these level 80 quests and tell me how many have a caster reward? The answer is 1 and that single item is a ring that only helps fire specced mages. There are a lot of cloth rewards, but they are for rogues. Demonologist itemization was a last minute addition and one that is far from complete. We appreciate the addition of robes in the last patch, it shows you agree we need some better itemization, but please don’t stop there. Revamp our quest rewards and then allow us to reclaim those rewards. Continue adding caster gear but for the love of Crom not everyone wants to wear a robe. The only good thing about stats not currently working has been that I can wear a cool looking outfit instead of a d**** and it doesn’t affect my stats. Currently the boots and belt of our Tier1 set have the exact same stats as the boots and belt of the Assassin Tier1 set.

Great post! Personally I'd mention more about PVP survivability and damage, though you go over the damage in the "know your role" section a little.

Itemization is the biggest thing that's bothering me. Even when there are 5 or 6 quest choices it seems that we still can't use any of them. If it's a dagger, it's for rogues, if it's cloth, it's for rogues...reminds me of WoW very early on.

I swear if and WHEN I win the lottery I'm making the best MMO of all time and casters are getting all the best ****!

I don't know why you'd add this to the FAQ. It's a good post but it has nothing to do with an FAQ. If anything, a link would be okay but it's not completely on topic with yours.
