I would love a prisson system, the game will still be 100% FFA, the Prison system will just create a system where you can decide on your own if it's worth killing your target or not.

while it sounds good in theory, all of these posts bring up valid points of why not to do it.

This really reminds me of when I was playing daoc and mythic put in a word filter to help protect people that didnt want to see cuss words. Yet they would disable the filter then bitch about people cussing. I agree with the poster b4 if you cant take this there are pve servers......fyi if I see a lowbie fron a guild that ganks me while im fighting a mob I will pwn period....I dont care how unfair it is...they need to talk to they guildies.

I wouldnt mind a prison system. Seems to me the only people that have a problem with it are people all about ganking low level players that are no challange or campers. Im neither. I kill if someone does me wrong and are on my KoS list. Basically you wont have any "prison" time if you play with any type of honor. If your the ones worried about prison, stop ganking lowbies and camping, pansies. Im a Carebare? Sure, if you say so. But why? Because I kill those that are my level or kill once and go on my way?

Prison system is welcome to me. Wont change my playstyle a bit. :P

Add KoS lists for guilds in war with each other though, I agree with the poster above me. If the company you keep are heartless and cowards, you die! This way if your in war with a guild, you can kill those in it, regaurdless of level and all that.

Just some feedback that at least one large FFA PvP guild is quite against the idea of something like this being implemented on the PvP servers, because it's quite antithetical to the spirit of FFA PvP. Why? Because FFA PvP is all about the player community policing the server for themselves.

Remember, one very common tactic in an FFA environment to put pressure on an enemy guild is to ruthlessly and punitively kill their lowbie characters in an effort to:

A. Dispirit their new recruits and encourage them to quit the guild altogether.

B. Create tension and division within the guild.

C. Force their higher level players to drop what they're doing to come protect their lowbie players.

NONE of this is ganking or griefing. It is a political pressure tactic. It is a *very* effective tactic to pressure an enemy guild into leaving your guild members alone and ask for peace between your two guilds. This is a prime tactic to get your entire guild removed from an enemy guild's KOS list.

If we're understanding your brief description of the prison system correctly, such tactics would be impossible to implement because it would result in us having bounties placed on our heads. Again, these are POLITICAL TACTICS, not GRIEFING.

Also, we can think of so many ways a prison system could be abused for griefing purposes, just like practically every "karma" system in other games have been abused. For example, what's to stop griefers from repeatedly running a lowbie character into the middle of a big PvE level grinding fight so that your AOEs and 2H weapon swings insta-kill them? They rez and run right back and do it repeatedly until some of your party end up with a bounty on their heads

If you want to implement this "prison system" on the PvP servers, or maybe even the RP-PvP servers, that *might* work out okay, but it would be death to the spirit of FFA PvP if you implement this on the regular PvP servers. Please don't do this!

Agreed, the current system is already limiting PVP enough with safe zones and Guards. I want to be able to kill anyone part of a guild on our KOS list without artificial game mechanics, its the only way to have real politics.

On a side note, Funcom, are you going to put death penalties in game? No point to PVP without death penalties.

Very bad idea. Make sure there is no reward for killing anyone -8 or more and instead of a protection buff, why not give everyone rezzing a short term (~10 seconds) buff to their Hiding skill and automatically put them in that state.

So what happens when a low level attacks you? I mean it does happen sometimes(mostly rogues). You just suppose to just stand there and do nothing?

Im sure theyll be able to tell if your defending your self or not. If they can tell whos locked a mob, im sure they can tell that you were attacked first and are defending yourself. Also Im sure they wouldnt do a bounty for the first offence of this nature would they?

I'm not playing the pvp servers here (at the moment) but I wanted to just say I actually agree with this.

I played UO when it launched and it was a pretty harsh introduction to the mmo world. Yet its the MMO I loved the most (I liked it better than DAoC and I played DAoC until recently).

The main reason I agree with what you said.. is just as the profanity filter you mention. Yes a person has a choice of what ruleset they will play on.

I think if a FFA is advertised (for those servers) then that is what should be given/supported.

The only real issue I see (from funcoms point of view) would be if they don't have enough subscribers to justify the server (or number of servers).

I personally have never seen ffa servers work long term.. but if you advertise them.. that's what they should be.
