Guards are fine, they limit griefing and promote actual fair fights which is a good thing. It seems to me that the only people that are in favor of this are the ones who suck at REAL pvp, and have to find other ways to get their KDR up, like res pad camping and zone-in camping.

Why not just wait 30 seconds until they run away from the guards out into the open? Oh thats right, cause then it would be a fair fight and you might actually lose.

I don't gank myself, but one annoying thing is guard AI, aggressor buffs, DoTs, proximity etc.

A gang of lowbies starts a fight with me, they realise their mistake and run to a guard, (they usually attack where guards are close) and more often I'm the one that has guard aggro. Sure I've been able to run from guards sometimes, I'm just getting sick of lower levels abusing the guards on top of the buggy murder system.

Guards are fine, just fix the two systems.

just make ppl immortal while talking to npc?

i dont like guards. i think alot of ppl dont.

theres ppl that like them. but ultimately the point needs to be made.

why have they specifically put gaurds in age of conan?

To stop people from being repeatably killed by rez points,transfer points and in cities.Guards are not in game to stop murders or else they would aggro on them on sight.Guards are the easiest way to stop camping that is why every mmorpg with pvp has some version guards.

Lineage II has guards. They attack murderers. (player killers is their term for it). You can work off the tag by slaying REAL monsters, or simply be a PK permanently. Guards will always auto attack you, and when you die in L2, it hurts, literally. You drop items, you drop gold, you drop experience. (And if you wear items that are level capped, you can end up naked). You can drop more than one level if you keep dying enough. And yet they have fairly solid sub numbers. The 'hardcore pvper's' in this game aren't really all that hardcore at all compared to the death threat you get in that game, because the majority of subs in THIS game want no part of experience loss, item drop, and coin drop. They want pvp with MINIMAL consequences, which is exactly the kind of thing that promotes the griefing we see everyday now. Griefers still play L2, but they can be dealt with by players immediately. And they do get turfed. Even griefers don't like to lose levels, it makes it harder for them to grief, and it allows others to outlevel them, because the griefer is FORCED to pve to get those levels back.

Guards DO serve a purpose but should be nerfed. There is no good reason for Guards to be PvP DPS Gods!!! H3ll I wish I was an Uber Guard and wipe Players out...hehe. Guards should be a nuissance to criminals and still attack but with much less DPS. Guards will still be effective during PvP since the Player will have to deal with a pesturing Guard(s) as well as those attacking.

Someone once said, "Only tyrants and criminals fear an armed people."

I think the same could be said in a way about those who dislike the new guards. For according to their reasoning, they are by nature, tyrants and criminals.

I think it is sad that Guards influence they way ppl spec for pvp builds

ex:

1) Infestation for necros - scared that someone runs to the guards and it procs onto the guards

2) Intense Heat for Conflag Demos - Procs an aoe dot on the target (correct me if i'm wrong)

3) Purification of mitra for Pom - Puts an aoe effect on Wave of life so it makes it hard to heal ppl that are near guards (Some people take off the buff that causes this when they are aware that guards are around)


Guards influencing specs is just ridiculous and yes the guards are places near places where Funcon does not want pvp to happened but the problem with that is yes, you can control not attacking someone near the guards, but you can't control the people you are attacking running back to the guards with their dots and so on.
