So I've been thinking a little bit about a fun hypothetical idea, and thought I'd see where people stood on this.
Suppose you could build a hybrid class using two existing classes.
- This class would have the combined stats of both classes, and have access to all of both classes's skills, spells, combos, etc.
- However, it would only have one of each of its component classes' feat trees. So a DT/Necro hybrid would have Desecration and Nightfall trees for example.
- General feat trees from both classes would be available.
- Still have the original 79 feat points to work with, to make choices worth careful consideration.
- Combos that use a certain type of weapon for one class would be useable by the other class's weapons as well. So a Carnage/Poss Conq/HoX would be able to use Pillar of Flame with dual-wielding weapons. Exception would be ranger and bows.
- Keep in mind class-specific debuffs.
- AA is not available for this super-class, to skew people's planning.
Given the above, What would your "super-class" be, and how would it work?
My thought:
ToS/HoX
Feat Trees: Thunder/Possession
Role: Super PVE AoE dps healer.
What do you get when you combine the two best AoE damage dealers in the game? Enough AoE to sink an island. Combines powerful Storm Field and other AoE effects from ToS with the mind-numbing amount of AoE in the form of Pillars, Tongue of Xotli, Chains, Inferno, and of course hellfire breath from HoX. ToS gives healing potential, while HoX also lends a boatload of cc to the mix.
Pros:
- Massive amounts of AoE.
- Even moar AoE.
- Heals!
- No mana? Sword!
- Self rezzes for days.
Cons:
- Still squishy as a bug.
- Wisdom and Int don't exactly stack together, though you still get a lot of magic damage.
- Single target dps is not "through the roof" but still good.
- Lots of skills to keep in mind.
- Where did my mana go?
- Wait no seriously, WHERE DID MY MANA GO?
- Oh. Sword.
