But even then there's no point in feating both skins in General tree in the age of multiple feats

That is true. But it is an improvement over the previous ones. I have 5 builds on my DT. I don't think a new player will be having that luxury the first few months. Having both protection and armour is ok in a overall tank spec given there are only two builds for free. The other of course with deep desecration for those times you wanna grind or dps.
All soldiers need multiple builds, I have 6 on my DT, 4 on my Guard, and 3 on my Conq.
I think the guy posting bad builds is just returning, because his specs mirror DT pre 2.0. When you did not have multiple feat specializations available and had to respec every fight many did feat multiple covenants, but now there is no need and you can maximize builds for particular needs.
My DT for example has a magical tanking build with DS, a physical tanking build with DS, a physical tanking tali build w/o DS, a pure tali DPS build, a magical tali tank build w/o DS, and finally a pvp build.

For when Shim62's DT gets older, here are various builds to consider.
The Dread Shadow offtank: http://is.gd/fg9sAZ
The Dread Shadow maintank phys/prot: http://is.gd/0cUGEu / http://is.gd/po5i6p
The Flesheater tank: http://is.gd/LTjcrn
The Agromachine: http://is.gd/JOWtOU
The all out dps: http://is.gd/xQEkuH
These builds are by no definition an ultimate answer to all build questions but it is what works for me.
Could arguably drop Cunning Deflection and Imp. Def. Stance from the physical maintank and put more in Desecration, get the aoe stun and recharging mana from when mobs put debuffs on you: http://is.gd/ulN8Wu - all depending on level of gear.

I did take a break for a while. But as I said earlier....I wasn't posting my real build, or even offering specific build advice. I was just making the point that a new DT need not have to spec too deeply into Desecration to get solid DPS.
I'm not a build scientist. I'd rather just have a good, solid, general purpose tank build and not have to worry about swapping for specific fights. It's enough trouble just switching accessories and AA abilities.
I realize that I could optimize for agro and dps, and if the time comes that I feel like my multi-purpose tank build is holding me back I'll certainly look at using some of the builds Shax84 posted. Some interesting stuff there.
The point is, it's needed to be very careful with giving advices and builds to new people asking for them imo.
First build you posted was bad for any tanking at this moment.
Your real build is way better and that's it
