Remember the style they chose to follow is a mostly Roman/Greek style instead of a Medieval Europe style so you should expect more of this: http://images.buycostumes.com/mgen/merchandiser/689.jpg
In that style even "fullplate" had a lot of open leg for movement. Their idea of full plate had more to do with how the chest was covered.

Except that's not full plate. The Greeks and romans had banded mails, with heaver armor being more of a half-helm, breastplate, bracers, tasset and boots. The greek and roman heavy armors are banded mail, and light plate mail (or just plate).
Full plate armor are the body covering Pauldrons, Vambraces, Gauntlets, Cuirass, Cuiss, Gorget, Full (often closed face) Helmet. The joints that were exposed usually had chain mail covering for some protection, and the stuff usually had to be made custom to fit the one wearing it.
Conan lore has this/gothic-style full plate mail, and the goddamn GMs even wear the stuff. What they try to pass off to players as 'full plate' is outright bullshit. It's not the kind of armor they promised and they know it.
Whoever the Game Designer/Artist is that made that tasset needs to be beaten back into reality, there's no excuse for making something that's nothing more than a loincloth be 'full plate mail'.
I know you guys only had 5 years to make the armor, but come on, get your asses in gear, or hire better staff to work on the game.

If they went with a medieval/European style full plate I would not be happy and I don't think it really fits the conan universe at all. Guardians would be one giant peice of metal with no skin exposed while everyone else would be wearing loincloths and skirts. We would be pretty out of place, don't you think? As many have said, the style is more Roman/Greek with a "full plate" twist. I am happy with the so called "man capris" so long as the high end armor looks good. This set isn't too bad.

I personally enjoy the bronze/iron age design of the armor in the game.

They're probably placeholder graphics.
Devs already stated they are adding in more and more weapon / armor graphics each patch.
WoW did the same thing .. their raid gear looked awful when the game first released. The stuff from molten core looked like non-skinned regular armor.

Wow, could I get ANY MORE of a QQ??
Seriously... I expected to see armor that looked like it was made of poo...
However, it's NOT. It looks excellent, even with the fact that its most likely only temporary. Go cry down someone else's river, the amount of crying going on is ridiculous. Next time, enjoy your JOURNEY to 80 (maybe start with that lvl 53 you have sitting there) instead of the race to the same.
But, since you did not, hold your panties on and wait for the model/skin patches that will be occuring over the next few months. Maybe this is your first MMO... which in that case, I will excuse the comments... but high level armor is always on the LONG 2nd PRIORITY list of the dev teams for a recently released MMO. At this time they are focusing on PvP balance, BUGS, etc... But, the models/skins, especially the higher end... WILL Be improved/tweaked/optimized over time.
Again, I say -- hold on to your panties.

Ok, I've seen enough of this complete lack of knowledge in Hyborian Lore. Go get yourself any Conan book by Robert E. Howard. Open it up, look at the preface. The Hyborian age takes place some hundreds of years BEFORE The Great Flood & Noah's Ark supposedly takes place. THIS GAME DOES NOT TAKE PLACE DURING THE MEDIEVAL TIME PERIOD!!!! The chances for medieval full plate to have been developed are slim to none. That's why they're going for the Banded Mail look and calling it Full Plate - because to the Hyborians, this WAS the idea of Full Plate.
The "Heavy Armor" in this game is simply a collection of fragile overlapping scales or some semblance to chain armor. The Medium armor is just a collection of heavy skins boiled and placed together. In comparison/contrast to the rest of the armor types in this game, Full Plate is Full Plate - because every piece is made of Plate, not because your entire body is covered head to toe in Plate.
This game isn't going to start looking like the Medieval time period, or even EQ or WOW with the fantasy "walking tank" look, so give it up.
