Black Screen - Cant make it to login screen

After i hit play from the patcher, it opens the game but is stuck on a full black screen, i can see the AoC pointer and move it around, but cant proceed further than the black screen anyone know a fix?

I have no idea if any of that is going to work, but you can try a few things:
-start the game from aocdx10.exe
-run as administrator
-press escape on the black screen
-downmoad aoc quick start and tick ''allow direct start without patcher''

tried everything you mentioned besides the quick start with no luck, i'll give that a shot now.

Yeah still no luck... seems like this used to be a problem back around launch, cant find fixes though
- also tried repairing broken game files, etc

spoke to him last night, solved problem by renaming the GUI folder (that is under the data folder), then running patchersetup.exe (also provided him with a backup of localconfig.xml just in case).

ALT+TAB and close the pop-up window. It is a bug when the game says that you have to update your video drivers. Also, installing new drivers helps.
