    Default Windows 7x64 or 8.1x64

    Planning a reinstall tonight,
    Which to choose for a more or less dedicated AoC gaming PC? Having a nvidia GPU (GTX 770).
    I want to be able to avoid all these weird crashes as most as possible.
    Definently will be running SweetFX and custom UI.

    I have seen previously some issues with 802.11AC WiFi with Win7 which I dont see on 8.1 or 10 tech preview, but if what I need is Win 7x64 Ill happily turn off .ac to have a smooth gaming experience.

    I did this exact thing a week ago. Installed Windows 8.1 Pro x64.

    Game wouldn't start with the Sweet FX that I used with Windows 7 x64. I downloaded ReShade 0.17.1 + SweetFX 2.0 and that worked just fine. Had no crashes and my system starts in 10-12 seconds. Installed classic start menu and it works very nicely and so far very stable and good.

    I can send you the files I used if you want to, just PM me.

    Mkay tried DX10, missing 90% of the visuals from particels.. weirdness, but think I have read about this before.
    I'll investigate

    If you have spent your cash on 8 already, then throwing the money to the wind is senseless. If you are planning to buy either OS, then go for 7.
    • Remove daily rewards and the raid finder;
    • remove membership bonuses;
    • disable PVE XP for daily challenges;
    • remove WBs forever on Crom;
    • slow down the AA gain;
    • lower the PVP XP gain or remove the streak system;
    • remove AoE looting;
    • add the missing mobs back to Khesh., F. of the Dead, and Eigl. Mount.;
    • fix the 250+ms ping;
    • take the key away from Saddur;
    • revert T3, T3.5 (10.21.15), T4 (10.21.15), and GGG changes;
    • remove energy and add skills (like taunt) back.

    I work as an Senior IT Consultant, I dont pay for Windows. Luckily
    So im only after the best possible solution and best compability with AoC.

    Went with 8.1 for now, but I see the particle issue with DX10, didnt like that (missing particles or rather small bubbles instead of the proper particles).
    Anyone know if this a driver issue or related to Windows version?

    I use 344.75. Later drivers started to cause DXI_Driver_Removed.
