Thread: DX10 Crashing

    Default DX10 Crashing

    This has nothing to do with recent game updates. I recently had my monitor die and replaced it. About the same time I updated my AMD Catalyst drivers to 14.2. Since then running Age of Conan with DX10 I dropped to desktop fairly soon after I start the game. I have no issues running with DX9. Has anyone had similar issues with AMD cards and 14.2 drivers?

    Thanks

    Why are you using one year old graphics drivers?

    The newest drivers are found here: http://support.amd.com/en-us/downloa...ndows+8.1+-+64

    I clicked that link and it has 14.2 as most recent. Date is 12/9/2014

    14.2 or 14.12?!
    • Remove daily rewards and the raid finder;
    • remove membership bonuses;
    • disable PVE XP for daily challenges;
    • remove WBs forever on Crom;
    • slow down the AA gain;
    • lower the PVP XP gain or remove the streak system;
    • remove AoE looting;
    • add the missing mobs back to Khesh., F. of the Dead, and Eigl. Mount.;
    • fix the 250+ms ping;
    • take the key away from Saddur;
    • revert T3, T3.5 (10.21.15), T4 (10.21.15), and GGG changes;
    • remove energy and add skills (like taunt) back.

    Sorry, bad drugs or sticky key board. 14.12, not 14.2

    Just in case.

    Check if you got these updates installed: KB2670838, KB2484033, KB2488113, KB2506928, KB2511250, KB2522422, KB2545698, KB2547666, KB2786081 and KB2799926. If you do, remove them.

    That's a big list. I went through and found a couple I had. I unistalled them and re-booted. DX10 seems to be working. I am not really sure why I had no issues with older drivers and monitor with the Updates, but yanking them does seem to help.

    Just wondering if there are any other workarounds for this?

    Upgraded my gpu a few weeks back & it just feels a waste on dx9, tried killing all the nasty windows updates, drivers are all good, run in admin etc but still crashes after a few mins in game on dx10 =/

    Its an R9 280 / 7950 3GB so no problem with the card running it, max everything on dx9 & its throwing out silly high fps even during wb.

    Anything else I can try?

    Got two of those GPU's here in two machines. Both with Win 7 x64. No problems. Check for the windows updates.
