Thread: Tomium (Compliments)

    Thumbs up Tomium (Compliments)

Note: I'm not sure this thread won't be deleted, but I hope it won't. I also hope it won't turn into a flame war. Of course, I also hoped she wasn't pregnant - but then her dad showed up with a shotgun and now we're married.

Recently I had a game complaint and unknowingly addressed it through the wrong channels. As a part of the process of complaining, I also sent a PM to Tomium. While my complaint was not resolved the way I wanted it to be, the fact is that it was addressed professionally, and more importantly it was resolved in a manner that reflects how I expect to be treated by a company I am paying for a service.

Was I happy with the end result? No, I was not - however I'm a big boy (getting bigger one cheeseburger at a time), and I understood the reasoning behind the decisions even if it wasn't the decision that made me happy. (Why can't I just have full T5 kit anyway?!?)

What is important though is that Tomium did a great job of customer service. While you could argue that it's his job, he chose to interact with me from a service to customer perspective. I received honest and helpful support from him - which he did not have to give me. He could have just done his job without taking the extra steps to make sure my complaint had been addressed to the best of his ability.

I'm sure many of us in these forums have worked in some form customer service job over the years, so we know how bad the job can be. CS reps are really the 'fluffers' of the business world, making sure things keep moving along smoothly for the people who are actually getting to enjoy themselves.

The thing is, I was hesitant to leave a compliment other than in a private message to Tomium. First, I did not want to be seen as an arse kisser (even though there is one arse I kiss, but that's only because her father has a shotgun). Second, unless you're a HoX and can laugh off lethal fire damage, or an idiot doomed to a fiery death, chances are you won't risk a public compliment to any CS rep on any game board for fear of being burned to death by the resultant flames.

Since I'm an idiot, I figured I would leave a compliment and risk the possibility of flames (mmm, roasted me).

Tomium had a choice to be either a professional CS rep (perform a function) and just do his job, or be a professional and helpful CS rep (perform a service). He chose to interact with me as a real person, performing a service instead of a function. I think he did an outstanding job, and I wanted to publicly thank him.

Since I don't want to risk later editing this post, if you've got something negative to say, please start your own thread. This thread is for Care Bears only. In other words, if you post here, you're definitely a Care Bear.

I'll show you roads overgrown and paved with promises long since forgotten, but what you take away will be as much about you as it is me. https://hjbuell.com/about-me/

Thank you for your kind words.

Our CS team really should get kudos here, as I talked with them directly about your specific issue, and they knew how to handle it. Of course, like most things, they say "send them to us." Sorry they didn't give you the answer you wanted, but that is the way of things sometimes.
