Thread: [Forum Event] Epic Tales of Uncertainty 3.0 Part 4!

Default [Forum Event] Epic Tales of Uncertainty 3.0 Part 4!

Many of you may remember old school books that you could read, that let you choose the path in which your character would progress. Much like those stories, we wanted to bring you our own spin on these.

Welcome to Epic Tales of Uncertainty!

Each week, until your adventure is concluded, you- the forums- will choose the path for your character. A poll will be made (see above) that will give you choices- choices which can lead to riches, fun, and yes- even death. The rules are simple:

    • Vote.
    • This is a for "fun" forum game.
    • You may reply here to try and sway your fellow forum go-ers, keeping in mind our lovely Social Guidelines.
    • You may speculate as to how the decision will impact your character
    • You could even go so far as to think how many weeks your character will live
    • Winning consists of choosing the right choice that leads the character to a "happy ending."
    • Every vote will have 4 choices
    • The ones who vote for the winning choice (each week) will be awarded a new forum title of "Uncertainly Epic"

With the rules clearly stated, we now begin our tale:

You tell Gol-Goroth that you want to help him. Acrid smoke rises from the ground as you feel the life and enthusiasm in you go... away. Your skin goes purple-gray, and you can feel the blood you once had now turning into a thick goo.

"To command the undead, you must be of their mettle," says Gol-Goroth.

Your clothes are stripped away, and anything that had made you a human is now gone. Your muscles visibly atrophy. You wonder how your bones move, but they do. You command your arm upward, and it listens. You extend your hand, all fingers flexing in their new home. You clench a fist, and it seems quite durable. Gol-Goroth has really outdone himself here, as you know you can control anything you wish.

You wonder what the price is, and before you can move your weathered and dusty lips to ask, Gol-Goroth speaks.

"All that you have is mine. All that you are is because of me. Do not fail me necromancer. Untold horrors await those who fail me."

As soon as he is done speaking, the sky clears and a glint of light is seen by a small alcove. You can smell the iron stench of dried blood. You want to try your new skills, and head to the alcove. You see a cave and further wish to see what is going on. As you enter the cave, you take notice of the very large rocks on the outside, not wanting to trip and fall. You enter and see a..well..... probably one of those "Soldier" types, turning toward you, sword brandished. You react instantly by commanding your body to defend you. The brimstone and sulfur blind the soldier temporarily, but not before they had swung. Your body, still new to you, is feeble compared to this mighty soldier. As you sit on the rock, not sure what will happen next, a bear shaman runs in to the cave, tumbling face forward into the dirt. In a hilarious fashion, his hammer flings upward and crashes on his head. The soldier wastes no time in dispatching the shaman, removing the shaman's head from its body- as this is being done, you seize your opportunity. You blast the soldier in the head, not sure what kind of energy you had just used. The soldier keels forward, obviously dead. You get concerned. You had never had a fight like this before. You exit the cave and look around.

The skies go dark again, and you hear Gol-Goroth.

    "Yes. Very good."

You feel a surge in energy.

    "It is time."

The skies part, and you look back at the cave. Any trace of fear or doubt you had is now gone. You walk in, and curiously there is rotting flesh here. You were only gone a minute, but for whatever reason, time had passed here. You work with the severed head and try to get it to fit "just right" onto the body of the shaman. In a trance, you call upon spirits to animate these bodies for the glory of Gol-Goroth!

They rise, their mutilated flesh glistening in the light. Your other "helper" is also converted. With an army of 3, you press onward.

I like the small story loop that join the first "tale of Uncertainty". It sure explain one things or two.
I also like how we didn't die immediately(well, I mean, we still died but it's not game over yet) , also, that's... quite pleasant.

Fun fact : Not actually the same guy as the player named "Jaedelyia" in-game. Never though I would one day encounter a guy with the same nickname as this one.

For the first time a vote made sense .... although I still think there is a severe lack of HoX-es
Xiuhcoatl, Xipil, Udiya, Zhoerong lvl 80 HoXes .... multi-speccing?
Gorgophone lvl 80 Barb, Kheiron lvl 80 PoM (Heal?), Uruloki lvl 80 Demo (Nub), Berenike lvl 80 Conq (retired.) All raised on Hyrkania RP-PVE (R.I.P.) server.

[undisclosed] lvl 80 HoX (!), Marbhaisgort lvl 80 Necro (fresh), Chahwuk (ToS)/Merav(Necro) lvl5x (for when I get to do Purist-achievements) Cromites.

The problem with doing a HoX story was that everyone has a VERY strong opinion on them. Either they LOVELOVELOVE them or they HATEHATEHATE them.

I think you can see why that may be a perilous story to do. That said, I will try and get another one (HoX focused) going once we are done with this series.

Okay, now we are talking .... hope that that the story is better than your HoX play though.
That was something I watched with "curling toes" (straight dutch to english translation)
