Thread: 100% CPU Load

  1. #1

    Default 100% CPU Load

    Hi,

1-2 year ago game worked fine with exactly same computer. And this only happens with.... surprise surprise Age of Conan

Always when, i assume PoM, ToS or HoX does certain spells i get heavy stuttering (as long as spells are active, then stutter disappears) my CPU load jumps to 100% and stays there.
There seems to be created "client shadow" on background which remains active (50% CPU) even when game is closed, so i need to force close "half of the AoC" always from task manager after i quit the game. They remain in same process tree so it can't be shut down while game is active.

It is not the spell particle shader cache saving stutter, this problem is eliminated with SSD

    i7 4770k 4,6 Ghz OC
    GTX 680
    16 GB RAM 2,333
    Win 7 64bit
    SSD

    Windows updates removed: KB2670838, KB2484033, KB2488113, KB2506928, KB2511250, KB2522422, KB2545698, KB2547666, KB2786081 and KB2799926
    AoC files verified.

/common troubleshooting answers for people who are 100% gonna say these (Which are btw wrong steps in most cases, in fact they hardly improve game problems but the Windows responsiveness).
    - Registry maintained daily
    - Hidden/trash files maintained daily
    - Drivers updated to the latest
    - No porn download at background, except japanese cartoon porn
    - 200mb cable connection

So tech freaks (bigger ones than me), share your solutions.

Do you have Aoc Quickstart? In my version, you can assign Conan to all cores. Thats really odd. Make sure Video Card Driver is up to date.

Might need a Windows reinstall and a fresh client download.

It is 2 week old Windows installation and i use quick start. But the problem is that it makes all CPU cores to 100%, not just one like it normally does in AoC

How are your system's temps? Sounds like an overheating issue. Do you have the issue only when playing aoc?

Probably something else running thats messing with Aoc.

Temps are fine and only when running AoC.

Background apps are Steam and Rivatuner fps limiter

If your comp was in front of me, I would definitely figure it out. But unfortunately can only guess over the internet.

Could try lowering the overclock. And allow the Turbo to only push it.

I test without OC, but i doubt it will help. What i could do is to get some old bios version from 2013, but that's pain to do just for AoC.

Do you use a modded UI?
Since my comp has 16 GB RAM, I disabled swap-file, a nice performance-boost.

It doesn't "boost" performance at all. And he's talking about CPU not RAM anyway.
