Thread: Strafe keybind on Mount

    Default Strafe keybind on Mount

All excited about my first mount last night and my "strafe" key on a horse is actually a key "turn". Is there a way to fix this? It makes for some very uncomfortable riding.

    Thanks!

Unless it has changed since I have played, or my brain is failing to remember, you cannot strafe on a mount.

Oh wow, that seems like a big oversight.

Because how horses are build "strafing" or walking sideways is extremly hard for them. Only very well trained horses are cappable of this and even those don't like it very much https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNIvNugaouE

In this video some ******* even forces a horse to do it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TUo_dPCiwuU

This would be perfect for the Synchronised Mammoth Dance Troupe I'm creating.

Does no one give a **** about horses? They can't strafe! Their joints don't work that way!

    Damn you all!

Doesn't really matter what happens in real life, we are fighting monsters and riding mammoths...

Going from a strafe movement setup to a turn one, really sucks the fun / control out of movement. I think in LOTRO there was mount strafing and the horse was just like the one in the video above.

Heck, I'd be ok with no strafing animation if it meant the positional movement was correct.

Here is where you are wrong. The horse model in AOC, just like other models, is a montion capture http://multiplayerblog.mtv.com/2008/...-mo-cap-shoot/

so if a real horse can't do something you can't capture that with montion tracking technology.
