Well yeah. Thats a 775 socket board. Only ever did DDR2.

Did you already buy the RAM and cpu?

If not. Get a board with Intel 1150 socket, either ASUS or MSI. Get at least 8 GB RAM. 2x4GB sticks, don't use cheap ****, it often is DOA, Crucial and Corsair are decent. i5 cpu is enough for this game. i5-4570 is good. The pattern with cpus are higher the number the more expensive and faster, get at least a quad core. You can find a decent ssd for rather cheap these days also. You would see the biggest difference of speed with an SSD.

SSD is an extra luxury, it's not vital. The difference with a properly set up HDD will only be the loading times.

Since he's on a limited budget, he's better off getting a good CPU/mobo/ram which will make a huge difference FPS wise - SSD won't do **** for his FPS.

The CPU and mobo look fine but I don't really know the Geil brand, I generally stick with Corsair/G-Skill/Crucial as far as RAM is concerned.

If you have money left, consider getting a small SSD or a 1TB blue WD drive (the WD10EZEX, very fast and cheap HDD, excellent for games). If you go SSD, look for a Crucial, Intel or Corsair drive IMO. And maybe Samsung too.

na, i cancelled the order i had made when i realised my MB sucked.

also found the items cheaper and closer to home.

so, these are what i am thinking of getting, would love some feedback before i buy

adds up to $478 total ( plus postage ) and im sure my HD6950 will fit on it.

CPU is kinda overkill, I would go for better mobo and lower i5. About SSD, can only recommended it, today I ve set one with old 775socket + E5200 (some shity MSI MB with int gfx) and even with this old **** it works like a charm.

doesnt ssd just help load times though? or does it help fps too?
