Help with a New CPU & Mobo

I need your expert opinions on a new CPU and motherboard.

Current pieces I need to keep:
OS: Win7 64 bit
Video: GTX 660SC 2GB
SSD: 200 GB

Old sad stuff that needs to go:
Mobo: Asus M3N72-D
CPU: AMD 9600 2.3 GHz
RAM: 8GB DDR2 PC2-5300

So, what's the best I can do, keeping my GTX 660 and staying around $500?

Depending on what country you are in, surf on webshop accordingly, just get a motherboard with capability of the newest haswell, get a dual core i3 or better. Spend what you can afford on a SSD and amount of ram. You can't go wrong in many ways really...
