    Default Funcom finances query

So, ive been watching the stockprice of funcom for a while, and as you can see from the 1, 3 and 12 month timeframe, the stock has risen quite a bit from their all time low.

    Anyone know the reason?
    Positive effect of restructuring?
    Lego game?
    or just speculation..?

Wow, that is a rather nice stock price increase.

You should be aware that the price is shown in Norwegian Kroner, not $.

I would suggest some of the rise may be "gambling" from investors on the Lego launch. Hope for all of us that it works out

Good catch. Exacly same happened on AOC launch, the stock got inflated and then it droped back to the original price as AOC turned out not to be "WOW killer".

However I would be more than pleased to see Funcom be successful.

The rise is most definitely due to the Lego-launch and the news coming from that side. Hell, go back 6 years and watch the graph, and you'll see that this pattern has repeated itself at every major game-launch the company has had. Happened before the launch of AoC, happened slightly before RotGS, happened before the launch of TSW. And after that initial rise and peak, the stockprice has belly-flopped.

Compare the stockprice-graphs from early 2008 until three weeks post-launch of AoC to the graphs from early 2012 until three weeks post-launch of TSW. You see the exact same rise and fall. Back in 2012, the stockprice fell 66% within three weeks of TSW's launch, and in 2008 you saw the stock go from 55NOK to 6NOK within a couple of weeks.

That stock rise-and-fall pattern is same for most companies everywhere. The ppl making money in the stock market simply look a bit ahead and buy in prior to some product launch, then try to time their dump so as to overall come out ahead. Wash, rinse, repeat. Has little to do in whether they think the company is good or the product might be a huge seller. They've got the dump trigger ready to pull the instant the stock turns after launch. They have the resources to do that for 100 stocks at a time, and every once in a while one of those products turns out to be the next great thing and they keep riding it. Bottom line is they make money year round, while companies' stocks cycle, feeding the buzzards.
