but that is how you gain more dps with ranger target furthest away with targets in between and do pen shot and atack side with less shields, behind or if its not possible with combo doing finisher hit on side wich doesnt have a shield.
its also usefull that combo starters dont have same initial hit as finisher blow to maintain shields on same side while doing finisher on unshielded, and some particular combo starters have higher damage then others depending on feats and class.
Pre-revamp, that was the only way to PvP. You shoot an opener, you move. You time it so that your combo does not expire before you've finished moving which takes skill. You shoot again. For a decent Salvo, you'd do this three times and then you'd be rooted during the slow-assed finishing animation which by the way, is why dropping a trap can be done during a combo. Because if it couldn't, no ranger would exist.

The old way to learn was White Sands Isle. I used to have a levelling guide on the old forums; that'll be gone forever. But you'd do this and you'd fight outnumbered by as many as possible because it would teach you both forms of ranger movement and correct use of CCs. And if you stayed on WSI from level 16 to level 25 without any PvE at all, by the time you actually made 25 you'd be able to win 5 against 1.

    Good times.

Unless you were a crossbow ranger, in which case all your combos were two-step easymode bullshít.
