Default Improved Defensive Stance vs iron skin

Hi, I was looking for a build for magic bosses and I found this one. I like it but I have a question. There is some reason to use Improved defensive stance intead of iron skin?

I wouldn't really go for that build.

First of all it has two covenants feated (Invulnerability and Arms) and since you have multiple feat builds and can only run one at a time, it's a waste.

Second if it's magic protection why would you want iron skin?

I would do something more like this if you want heavy magic protection and a dread shadow:

Thanks for answering but iron skin is a waste and improved defensive stance is not? I dont undersant it. And thats the reason why I opened the thread in the first place.

What was pointed out is that you seemed to go for a magical protection build through covenant of invulnerability and yet feated armor from general.
You make a build for physical tanking or for magical tanking, but you don't need anymore some all around tanking build, so you can use the spare points to get more damage output.

Improved defensive stance does improve magical mitigation just as much as physical one, which makes it not a waste in a magical protection build.

Anything that improves mitigation improves both armour and protection. So +3% mitigation is a benefit to a magic protection spec.

Ok, question solved, both of you are right. Improve defensive stance imporve magic protection too. Thanks

I posted another build for you earlier today in another thread you made where you asked for a meelee tank build.

Use the same build, just swap the 7 points of Iron Skin to Stone Skin, Drain Strength and Dark Hand to Soul Infusion and Hex Marked Soul.

You can of course use Improved Defensive Stance if you have poor gear. If you can get over 50,1% in K6 runs that should be fine with melee build. Protectionwise you should have no problems getting 40%++ just with trader gear.

Remember that as a Dark Templar, your dps and taps are directly linked to how much damage you can take. The higher dps you can make while holding Vile Gluttony, and the more mana regen you can get, the more damage can get "mitigated" by health tap and Soul Barrier.
