Thread: Fixing DT stats

    If the point is to solo tank arbanus and guyass as DT, it's fully possible. Does that measure if the class is OP or not, maybe? Does it matter? No. The soldier trio works pretty good as is today..

    Would I like the DT changed as OP wants it, no, not really. The spell coefficients are low (and based on magic dmg) for a reason, upping those even a bit (or changing them to be based on str/cbr) would make the class extremely OP, and that for no reason at all. How it is today (and has always been) works good and makes the class really diverse, just like everyone likes it

    just compare t4 light (barb) and t4 heavy armor dmg wise and get a good laugh

    I love to play DT as well, but it doesn't change the fact that the class is ridiculously OP. It's ludicrous to pretend otherwise. It doesn't fit in with the rest of the classes in game from a PVE perspective. A few other classes are somewhat OP, but nothing compares to what a DT can do. Anyone who plays all soldier classes can especially tell the difference.

    Not that I expect any changes. FC doesn't have the staff to complete new content, much less fix broken classes.

    The fact that someone over at FunCom thinks it's a good idea to put more dps/same amount of crit/crit dmg rating on a heavy set compared to a light set these days isn't really the classes fault, but ofc, it escalates any problems. T4 gear isn't correctly balanced (or some stats comes with a heavy hit against the budget and some are too cheap).

    DT as a class is fine, VoM is fine, but some of the VoM effects are over the top. Remove/adjust them and the problems with DTs will be gone.

    how can vom be fine when some of its effects are over the top?

    the power of a class is allways combined of the class itself + playerskill + available equip, right now dts(and conqs for that matter) have 2 out of these 3 guaranteed which makes even bad players do good things and good players just dominate.

    You say that VoM is fine... but then that some of the effects are over the top. So in other words, VoM is NOT fine. And since VoM makes the class you can say that DT is not "fine" either.

    And yes gear has become really silly. All classes basically get the same dps & crits regardless of their archetype. That's exactly where soldier's opness in pvp comes from, they get the same dps as other classes while keeping the extreme survivability of their archetype... Fail.

    It's funny when people try to justify glaring imbalances with what they think are witty little phrases.

    T4 fight (not even one where magic dmg hits hard ffs ), solo tank, 2k dps.... repeat those three facts over and over to yourself and come up with a reply to justify that please.

    Oh, so you learnt how to copy and paste your post from yesterday? You dont need to be Einstein to realize the Guardian and Conqueror is superior tank on bosses where you do less damage, and the Dark Templar is superior tank where you do high amounts of damage. Both of the physical tanks has lower cooldown on their aoe taunts and their feats, combos and abilities add more hate than the Dark Templar get. Dark Templar is the dps tank with the best magic mitigation. Thats how the class is and has always been.

    It does not take much variation on a fight before the DT isn't as good as you'd want it to be. Soul Barrier is only effective in a select few encounters. Dread Shadow does not always work as good as you would want it to and sometimes it can kill players or wipe raids. If you get combo evaded, you get passed on hate list. All hate from DT is generated from damage (and Irritate).

    Do not blame Funcom for the T4 gear, as it was the T4 raid guilds who asked for these stats on the T4 gear. Players asked, players got.

    However the thread is by far gone off topic now for a while. The op wanted all Dark Templar magic abilities to scale with Strength rather than Wisdom.

    So I see a Conqueror and an Assassin complaining about a Dark Templar doing better in PvE than their own characters. Fits pretty good imo You do more damage than Guards but no chance against DT at certain encounters.
