What's the best opening and rotation for PvP combat. I would assume Advantage + Deadly Draw + directional + Pen Shot for opener then what? It takes so long to run that opener that good melee could run circles around you.

What I do normally is open with a lower attack buffed pen shot with an advantage fire or shattering for the damage followed by a buffed upper bad lower bleeding puncture the the crazy dot damage followed by a buffed lower and upper attack quick shots keep doing this and then use any other combo you need to do to kill the target. Simple as that. I normally 2 shot sins and casters if I get a lucky crit with buffed pen shot or buffed linebraker with an advantage plus TTS to finish then off.

one of the best combos is to deadly draw someone then wait til that same someone is in back of enemy group (make sure KB CD is clear) then linebreak t he whole team, hit advantage, and then down arrow and pene shot the entire group
Combo cancel is also your friend.

living can be knowing when to hit "excellent balnce"
dying can mean hitting agile mind or vindicate too soon
a ranger is mostly movent and strategy as with any class
charge when you feel gitty and snipe when you see a mage
