Thread: classes

    Default classes

    hi

i m a little lost in all the classe, what is the difference between DT, Conq et barbarian for PVE DPS ?

    Thx

Dt and Conq are both soldiers, barb is a dps dedicated rogue.

Just note than in AoC every class can deal massive dps if specced that way (except guards, which have the lowest dps pool), so even if you play a soldier, you can choose to not play it as a pure tank, or not as a tank at all, and instead go for pure dps.

So, difference between barb dt and conq for pure pve dps ?
Well, none, except that a barb got a better aggro management (as in ways to avoid pulling aggro from tanks while dpsing) and relies much less on gear and AA for pure dps purpose.

When playing a DT/Conq you can switch the roles of dps and tank, mix them or even do both at the same time (if your gear is good enough).

These two classes have higher gear requirement - tanking requires basically the best possible items, dpsing will require a non-tank set with -hate.

DT and Conq have no passive -hate or de-aggro tools, though conq can (actually must) feat a -5% hate toggle buff and use a -hate banner. This is not enough though and you will not be able to go full-dps without overaggroing later in the game.

Barb is always "only" a dps - you need only one set of armour (though like all classes you may need some survivability gear), you can feat passive -hate, some de-aggro tools and even a 50% chance to self-rezz. You will most likely be able to deliver constant high-dps without much risk.

Barbarian is very similar in style to Conq (they use the same weapons), but Conq offers extra complexity and challenge.

Just don't play guards not only can they not do DPS but apparently they are not great tanks as well. If you want to both tank/DPS play conq -- they are also the only ones to get in combat rezz.

DT if you want to do DPS sometimes and mt on raids.

Dt uses 1HE and shield or 1HE and talisman, depending on what he wants to do.

Basically a dt going full dps will use a talisman with his sword.

For tanking, a shield will be preferred when beginning with the class. With more experience, gear and AA, tanking with talisman is very nice.

Wut? Guardians are still the toughest tanks and the most user-friendly of all soldiers.

They're less entertaining (no mechanics) and soloing is somewhat slow (due to low dps).

DT can also use the 1HB as well.

DTS don't get the free DPS until they hit 80 and get some AAs filled in. DTs take a while to level just like the other soldiers.
