Thread: Shammy Weapons

    Default Shammy Weapons

My shammy has started to get some gear, atm though Im still using a crafted clue 80 weapon. Aside from raid weapons, can I get some help with what experienced players recommend as the best all round primary's?

Ive heard that the wolves club is really only good for the heal rating...

    Thanks

The Wolves club isn't completely terrible anymore, since the addition of crit rating. But there are other options. Such as the Grimwest from Amp and the Acheronian Evening Star(crafted blue).

But as a general rule for BS...you'll want the weapon with the highest weapon damage you can find. BS rely heavily on weapon damage for DPS.

This is a repost of what "stage" wrote on the old forums, summing up a discussion on the topic of bear shaman weapons. Sadly I can't use the quote function there anymore. The numbers behind each weapon are the actual, modified DPS (I don't know how to reformat them in red). Here it goes:

Here is the comparison between the top tier weapons for bears atm.

    T4 Heaven Cracker Soul Sunderer - 176.03

    Red = BaseDPS+Str+C.Rat = TotalDPS

Comparing T3 Crafted to the rest in pure DPS

    smaller is better
pvp items are with included pvp ratings

    Code:

    T4dps T4heal T3.5 Song T3 T2 T1 | F.Wolf Grim Stone Void E.Star | PvP3 PvP2 PvP1
    +1.25 -11.87 -15.82 -21.82 -15.65 -21.6 -27.51 | -28.23 -28.95 -28.26 -23.03 -28.93 | -18.53 -23.56 -26.35

Conclusion: T3 Crafted blunt is currently the best dps blunt for shamans
(15 dps ahead of the next best thing), and will remain so until T5 is out; or T4 Crafted
(which i highly doubt, more likely will see custom crafted set or custom gem slotting on items
and not more weapons, but this theory is for another thread).
btw am also expecting over a thousand heal rating on a t4 blunt

p.s. If anyone can help me out posting the dps-range on T3, T3 Crafted and the PvP 1-3 weapons it will be nice.

Yep, all % weapon damage bonuses are calculated from the base dps.

When comparing the stats be sure to at least apply the bonus from Blood Champion and Mani (since you should have the all the time). It may outweigh the bonus from combat rating.

If you're using Acheronian Morning Star, then both Club of Wolf Rider and Stonesplitter can be a slight upgrade (think not only about the dps). The latter is obtainable via a quest, so if you will run W1 once or twice you will surely get it.

BTW - I think Stage forgot to update his conclusion (T4 hammers are the best now).

Awesome, this is info that certainly shouldn't get lost with the old forums.

At the moment I have access to a crafted blue (final say)
Which is eh ok 125 dps, but no str, con, cr etc or a blue from
from atzels that has 112 dps,60 str, 23 or so con,
    And 80+cr.

Now I'm not suggesting either is a great weapon
however if you have to play off the two and taking into account greater dps vs better
Cr, what would most of you suggest is the best option ATM?

To me it seems the atzels weapon would be best cause of the trickle
Down from the extra stats and the cr chance on heals and dmg
But If I could get some options on this thought that would be great.

    Thanks in advance

The easiest to get atm would probably be Stonesplitter. You'll have to kill Vistrix once or twice to do all the quests (some from Kalanthes in Keshatta), so you can get the follow up quest for Stonesplitter from Cha in Keshatta. Then you'll have to do the T2 raid for it (wing 1 I believe) and you'll get it as a reward. Both Vistrix and wing 1 shouldn't be that hard to get into.

Just adding the weapon damage bonuses I've mentioned:

    Crafted blue: 125dps + 15% (18.75dps) + 45% (56.25dps) = 200dps

    Atzel blue: 112dps + 60str (5dps) + 15% (16.8dps) + 45% (50.4dps) = 184.2dps

The difference will be bigger if you'll also apply Rampage or CotR bonus.

I would rather use the crafted one, because the 80 crit rating won't make for raw dps. The heals that crit are also rare (blue and green doesn't crit).

I have the Stonesplitter quest Thand, i just havent had the chance to get into a W1 yet...they can be kinda rare in Aussie primetime. Thanks for the reply though.

Thanks for the break down, Misiuggah. And for the info that Blues/greens dont apply crits...I didn't realize that but it kinda makes sense
