    Default 'Scanning local files' extremely slow

    When I first installed the game in my new PC it was really fast (well, fast, 30'', an eternity compared to GW2 for example). Now it takes sometimes more than 5 minutes (even if I repair broken data before).

    Anyone knows how to reduce this time? I wouldn't like to reinstall the whole game again.

    Thanks in advance.

    What is your CPU and memory?
    • Remove daily rewards and the raid finder;
    • remove membership bonuses;
    • disable PVE XP for daily challenges;
    • remove WBs forever on Crom;
    • slow down the AA gain;
    • lower the PVP XP gain or remove the streak system;
    • remove AoE looting;
    • add the missing mobs back to Khesh., F. of the Dead, and Eigl. Mount.;
    • fix the 250+ms ping;
    • take the key away from Saddur;
    • revert T3, T3.5 (10.21.15), T4 (10.21.15), and GGG changes;
    • remove energy and add skills (like taunt) back.

    I'm not on that PC now, but it's a powerful machine, I'll edit the post later with the data.

    When the patcher asks you to fix the database - don't do it unless you can't run the game.

    Scanning local files basically monopolizes all HDD traffic - any other process that uses the hard disk will make the scanning super long. It's like copying simultaneously separate files/folders (especially on external flash memory) - it will take longer than if you would do it together or in sequence.

    At least that's how it works on my rig - installing Windows updates, unpacking stuff or even launching a web browser slows the scanning. Maybe you have some aggressive anitvirus or something running in the background?

    Your machine can be poweful, but if you have a normal HDD then it won't change much (my HDD lowers overall performance rating from 7-something to 4,9).

    Windows 7? Excellent!
    Use this tool to skip the patcher:
    http://www.curse.com/addons/aoc/aoc-quick-start

    Tick "Allow the game to start without the patcher".
