Thread: Anti-Aliasing Options

    Exclamation Anti-Aliasing Options

Didn't want this lost in Tech section .. so here goes: Crysis AA options (no clue if this applies to all games, but I can't see why it wouldn't)

Always wanted a nice description of what those AA options actually bring.

The cheapest mode in the game is FXAA. ... Now, FXAA is debatable among gamers because it reduces texture quality slightly by adding a blur.
One paragraph and I could have avoided suffering with FXAA for 2 years now

    TXAA -
The third mode is the worse and most useless mode in this game, TXAA. If you thought FXAA blurs your textures, you will be shocked at how much TXAA blurs everything in the game. Looking at this game with TXAA enabled is like looking at your display with Vaseline smeared all over it. It causes a drastic reduction in texture quality, object quality, grass, tree, vegetation quality, and character quality. It doesn't matter if you use the TXAA 1 or TXAA 2 mode, both are nasty, visually speaking.
I wonder if that TXAA is just bad for Crysis or is just bad.

I now use SweetFX with MSAA ... NO MORE blurry FXAAaaaaaaaargh

So there you have it folks, nVidia has a lot to answer for.

In case anyone wants to know about Crysis 3 ... it is terrible, pretty but just terrible. Almost as bad as the 2nd one.
